This class is a great tool that helps you learn American Sign Language in a practical, useful and fun way that motivates you to want to learn more.

I have been in Cyndi’s sign language class for about 6 weeks. Cyndi does an amazing job of teaching ASL to hearing students. The fact that she teaches ASL from the viewpoint of a hearing person has made all the difference in the world for comprehension skills. I have taken other ASL classes and struggled to understand what was being taught. I recommend Cyndi Bradshaw’s class to you.

Wanting to learn sign language for fun, I found myself learning more than just sign language. She introduced me to the Deaf culture that was very unfamiliar to me. Cyndi has an amazing ability to teach a language that we all should learn to love. And I did.

Cyndi was a great teacher. We learned signing through a conversational approach which helps in communication rather than just learning words. It was a fun class and very interactive. Lots of visuals and concrete props helped in the learning process. Cyndi helped educate us in Deaf culture and kept us knowledgeable on what was going on in the Deaf community so we could immerse ourselves in it if we chose to do so. One class we included some deaf individuals in the class experience. This helped challenges with what we had learned.

Cyndi is very innovative in her teaching style. She includes many visuals and concrete props to aide in the learning process. Deaf culture awareness is taught and is a crucial part of learning ASL. She included experiences to help students learn conversational ASL rather than just words or phrases. It is very helpful that Cyndi is aware of the Deaf culture and the hearing culture. She can teach the differences and what people need to be aware of when in a Deaf community so they do not offend someone. Her classes are fun and informative. I would highly recommend her as an instructor for ASL.

My husband and I took 2 classes from Cyndi to learn more about ASL. We had seen people signing in public and thought it was such beautiful communication. Cyndi showed us much more than just signs, but about the culture and how something small like the way you form your mouth or make a face changes the whole meaning of your sign. We have had the opportunity to practice in our community by talking to a Deaf group at a restaurant and also attending the Deaf service at our church. Although we couldn't understand every single word it was such a great experience! I would recommend Cyndi to anyone who wants to learn ASL and also understand the culture.

I would highly recommend Cyndi Bradshaw for your signing needs. Her sense of humor and passion for the signing culture made the beginning signing class sponsored by East 91st Christian Church, a great experience! Many times she showed special attention to her students by dealing with our busy schedules, rewriting class notes for our use, and willingly answering our numerous questions. At one point she graciously offered to stay after class and help me communicate and perform the lyrics to a song for my 6th grade choir. Her background and immersion into the deaf community make her a fantastic mentor and resource!
